Review: The Case for India

The Case for India The Case for India by Annie Besant
My rating: 1 of 5 stars

An absolute waste of time for common Indian readers but good example of British Hippocratic writings. The author was British. And, according to this book, she had proud of its freedom, liberty and equality etc. After knowing everything Empire have done to this country. She was just little liberal who wanted India to be a democratic country but not Democratic Republic. I think after reading this book of her - Home -Rule means rule or government by People of the nation but Empire always be their. The other meaning of the home rule is self government without any interference. She wanted India to be Loyal with Empire and Briton. What are we dogs? To be Loyal with them.
She was a proud British. And came here just grill people and find success for herself. Her written shows that she don't know anything about India. But she was considered One of the greatest freedom fighter of India. She became famous because she was white English speaking British. And, at that time most of the leader of the movement was in dire need of support of white or maybe because Indian freedom fighters considered whites English speakers greater than their people. All in all she came just to show how good she was and her country was and made her carrier as a freedom fighter. I don't know Indian freedom fighter considered her as a their own. She didn't even wanted India to revolt against their own great Briton. It's Gandhi who started revolt against Briton in full swing but in different manner. Before that these of Freedom fighters were existed whose mass appeals were just restricted to urban upper or upper middle class. As an avid reader I must say that people responsible for 200 years British rule were these upper and upper middle classes. They worked for them for money or power. That's the only reason Gandhi succeeded in his struggle for freedom of India. Because he appealed to the masses of this country.
This book represent the author's biased view toward Empire and India. My 1 star represent here for worst book. So don't read it if you are thinking that the author was great freedom fighter and want to learn from here. But If a person have a interest in history and its research. He should read it and analyse it in proper manner.

Review: I Too Had a Dream

I Too Had a Dream I Too Had a Dream by Verghese Kurien
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Very nice biography. Very exciting to ready whole story of 'Amul' and 'White revolution' from the mouth of Dr. kurien himself. The book itself a example of decentralization and village swaraj. The best part from this book emerge is farmer and what this country had done to him/her. Other than White revolution not a single policy of the government worked. Such a tragedy this democratic country posses. The person behind success is not Government but Dr. kurien and his cooperative society(or farmers). I am glad he wrote this book to give us an idea how he succeed in his task of making India milk rich.

Review: A Woman in Berlin: Eight Weeks in the Conquered City: A Diary

A Woman in Berlin: Eight Weeks in the Conquered City: A Diary A Woman in Berlin: Eight Weeks in the Conquered City: A Diary by Marta Hillers
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is listed as best book I ever read on my shelf. The one which I will always admire as to become more human in my future life. This is not just a story of one woman in Berlin. But every single woman across the world. The story replicate centuries of reparation woman are facing in every day of there life. The sexual violence describe by the author is so honest, courageous and without self pity that it makes you think again and again about her. The picture of her survival make every women more angry and stronger. And It makes every men how shameless they were and are. According to the reports almost 2 millions women were raped, some of them raped 60 - 70 times, teen girls and even girls less than 10 years old were not even exception. The statement itself predict the heinousness and cruelness of the crime committed against women of Germany by war heroes from Russia, United States, United Kingdom and France.
I mind is rolling again and again into her life. I can't stop thinking about it. The certainly will make you cry, angry, excited. I have no words to describe any more the best way to find out what the book posses is to read it.

Review: The Secret History of the American Empire: Economic Hit Men, Jackals & the Truth about Global Corruption

The Secret History of the American Empire: Economic Hit Men, Jackals & the Truth about Global Corruption The Secret History of the American Empire: Economic Hit Men, Jackals & the Truth about Global Corruption by John Perkins
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I have just one question. Why American's like pussy, tits and penis so much that they can't even set aside that subject while writing serious book. These pussy and tits thing are killing importance of whole books. Otherwise the book is average. Better to read like fiction but genuinity of so many things we can also verify from books and other sources. The validity of this book is far more questionable than the works of the Naom Chomsky and some others like John Pilger, Naomi Klein, Arundhti Roy. So don't rely on this source. Otherwise book is nicely written on fiction and entertainment perspectives.

Review: Hopes and Prospects

Hopes and Prospects Hopes and Prospects by Noam Chomsky
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Typical Naom Chomsky book. It is for those who are interested in contemporary history of north and south america. It is originally based on United States foreign policy. The book produced as a criticism but it is more than that. After reading this book you will certainly find this lines more practical than what Abraham Lincoln had said about democracy -
Democracy means - Government of the Corporate people, by the Corporate people and for the Corporate people.
Every single American should read this book before voting in election.

Report On Conditions of Works and Promotion of Livelihood in the Unorganized Sector Report On Conditions of Works and Promotion of Livelihood in the Unorganized Sector by Arjun Sen Gupta & others
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Very structured and understandable analysis of poverty in India. The position of unorganized worker and condition of their lives, wages, laws, education and working hours are main focus. The reports finding was criticized by Government as flawed. But hailed by intelligentsia around the world for its fairness and honesty and very structured analysis. I have read it once only. After second reading I will write proper review.

Review: India: A Wounded Civilization

India: A Wounded Civilization India: A Wounded Civilization by V.S. Naipaul
My rating: 1 of 5 stars

1 star = Chetan Bhagat or disgusting, non-sense, waste of time. My advice don't read this book. 1 star is from my side means worst book. Author don't know anything about India. His English is good. That is the only thing this book has. Every person who have a knowledge of English language, claims to be a philosopher. This is what this book of Naipaul is! Mr. Naipaul may be a good fiction writer or non-fiction as well. But he don't anything know about India. So whole book is waste of time. I liked Just one paragraph from this book -
The turbulence in India this time hasn’t come from foreign invasion or conquest; it has been generated from within. India cannot respond in her old way, by a further retreat into archaism. Her borrowed institutions have worked like borrowed institutions; but archaic India can provide no substitutes for press, parliament, and courts. The crisis of India is not only political or economic. The larger crisis is of a wounded old civilization that has at the intellectual means to move ahead.
That is it. Other than this, this book sucks.
