Review: Ignited Minds: Unleashing the Power Within India

Ignited Minds: Unleashing the Power Within India Ignited Minds: Unleashing the Power Within India by A.P.J. Abdul Kalam
My rating: 1 of 5 stars

Disgusting, dis grease, non-sense, irrelevant, waste of time or worst than you think. This is the book written by a person who has a knowledge of English that is it. Any one who knows good English, can be a good writer here in India. This is what the book says. The author certainly has knowledge of science and technology but he is not a philosopher or visionary kind. This book along with his Revolution 2020 shows that he has very very little knowledge of other sectors of the society. And he certainly is not an authority for the field like economics, healthcare, education or new ideas at all. What he really posses are great stature in the field of science and technology and good English. He posses no new ideas or any good plan to solve any problem in reality. His ideas are absurd, irrelevant, irrational, hyper patriotic etc. The author don't posses any new think beyond what west counties and politicians of this country says. He is totally biased towards growth and development of this country which is nothing but the exaggeration by politicians and chauvinist etc. The only positive thing about the book is his work in the field of science and technology and yes English. There is nothing in this book which is readable. This book can be used as a start by a person who just started reading in English and want to read about India only. Or the one who has no interest in reading anything. My rating is 1 star i.e. for the don't read, worst, disgusting, dis-grease, unreadable. So according to me there is nothing in this book which ignite your mind. Thank you.

Review: Annihilation of Caste: The Annotated Critical Edition

Annihilation of Caste: The Annotated Critical Edition Annihilation of Caste: The Annotated Critical Edition by B.R. Ambedkar
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Beyond doubt this is the best literature on caste structure. The book was published on undelivered speech by one of the best authority on caste related issues. And critical annotation by the great Arundhti roy.
Arundhti roy's half of the criticism of Mahatma Gandhi are irrelevant to this book or topic. But other half are fully convincing that Mahatma Gandhi was wrong in matters related to caste or biased while thinking caste and varna are different-different things. The Gandhi is here saint and Ambedker is doctor. The sainthood of gandhi made him biased for his religion. The annotation by arundhti roy is not his best work. She had done remarkable job before this in the field of social activism and democracy. But her so many of the argument are quite good. She is somewhat biased in this book for Doctor but not in whole. The best thing about her writing is footnote and research she do before writing even an simple article. This is best feature of her annotation here.
Now the doctor who had done remarkable job while analyzing 'what is caste' and 'how it practical works in society' and ' how we eliminate it from our society'. His attack on Hindu literature is I suppose valid. According to him Hindu scared law are just deterrent laws. This ancient codes are not related to any religion but laws to manage a government of the particular are but in forced to deter people from breaking the laws.
His attack on Brahmanism is the most important part of the book. He criticize Brahmanism in most structural way. According him the most responsible things for this caste system are Brahmanism, ancient code and specially manu - smriti. His criticism of Gandhi is not just right but far-far better than him.The view of Gandhi on caste are same worst as Ambedker's on tribal people. According to The Doctor thet are naked and uncivilized people. The best thing of Roy is, she always give some hint that is guy is not wholly correct in every think. And that applies to the greatest Indians The saint and the doctor.
Other than this you will find most interesting research and example the doctor produced for his argument. He used scientific, humanistic as well as moralistic principle to describe what is wrong with this caste ancient caste system. And wht we should change it. I will read this book again and again to analyze its material. But every one who is reading this review should read this book to understand its vastness to the society. Ultimately what important is Society. The best quote of the book is:
The caste is not merely a division of labor. It is also a division of laborers.

Review: The Inscrutable Americans

The Inscrutable Americans The Inscrutable Americans by Anurag Mathur
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Very good book. The most interesting part of the book is Christmas eve times and time with sue. Gopal character is very funny, enthusiastic, very honest, nerd and most of all ignorant about the American ways. When you advance in this book slowly, I will become serious from funny side. The character becomes more matured and honest with his conversations and arguments. It was very good account of life of a person from India in free market economy. It will give you so many good as well as bad insights of American ways of life. Mostly bad one. The one in with the girl named Samantha fucked so many guys and male prostitute in New york. The book is honest account of how american are indulged in sex and related things. The best thing the author observed is the language. According to this book american don't know English, they speak American language. It is certainly true. But yes I accept they are very friendly people. There social structure is demolished sex, drugs and free market with wars, but they still are friendly people. The church things and blacks problems are also discussed in small part but very attractive and creative. The book is full of american life but this is not the only things they got. So the whole book gives insight about America, they are certainly more than only written in this book. I like book very much but its just a story or account of one person without the knowledge of reasoning and human psychology. So it deserves 2 out of 5. But I highly recommend you to read this book.

Review: Toba Tek Singh: Stories

Toba Tek Singh: Stories Toba Tek Singh: Stories by Saadat Hasan Manto
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

As i always say Saadat Hasan Manto was the best short story writer. The reflection of reality in his stories are the biggest force which force me to read his stories. Toba Tek singh is very cute story written on partition. Its reflect his feeling for India's partition and and its consequences on the people of both sides. His attachment with Bombay was the example for his love with Bombay. In Toba Tek Singh stories he describe partition through most affected people. Toba Tek Singh is funny but very serious expression of partition of India. I am happy that I am reading him in India and appreciating his works. Heart touching stories.
